RE: Willow and Cane 5 wt Fiberglass Rods
I hope this email finds you and the family at Willow and Cane well. Things over here on the west cost are taking off and I am enjoying the new out of the 8 ft 5 wt Ultra glass rod . It feels great. Here are a few pics of some of the fish I have pulled in on it this spring. Right now I e of us taking place on a lot of our blue ribbon lakes and the cutthroats and rainbows are in full spawn right now, so we are having a blast with that. Thanks for your time and have a great day. - Garret

Roscoe, NY...great fly fishing and an amazing town. Hit up the world famous Roscoe Diner.
I think we ate there 5 times in three days!!! - Fish on. With the hype of the fiberglass manifesto coming back Into style over the few years our interest here at Avid hunting and Outdoors has been sparked to see why the fiberglass rod has become such a big deal. Throughout the spring we made contact with a few different companies that create custom glass rods to see if we could get our hands on one of these highly sought after fiberglass rods. One company in particular that We came in contact with is Willow and Cane. Willow and Cane is a Midwest based company out of Springboro Ohio. After a few conversations over the phone with the owner of Willow and Cane, we had a rod on its way to be reviewed and put to the test. We were looking forward to receiving this rod as we had never before fished with a fiberglass rod, upon receiving this rod we pulled open the box and unzipped the rod tube and tipped it upside down and slowly let the rod fall into my hands. Our first reaction was wow this rod looks awesome as our eye caught the pear wood reel seat matched up with the stainless steel reel seat lock rings and reel clamps that worked its way into the sure grip cork handle. The rod blank was very appealing with its English racing green color set up with CHR steel snake guides, at this point we were loving the old school classic look of the fiberglass rods that we had seen around. After examining this rod we were excited to put it to work. A few short days later we were on one of our favorite stretches of water flipping this beautiful rod in hopes of hooking Into a nice brown, after a few casts the hook up finally happened. The feel of the Ultraglass rod was amazing. You can feel the fight of the fish all the way to the reel seat. We were amazed at how well the rod handle the fight of the fish. As the day went on and many fish later we realized what the hype of the fiber glass rod was. It was the medium smooth action of the rod that was on point in every cast, not only that the tip of the Ultraglass rod was sensitive which we find very crucial when nymphing. We would like to give Willow and Cane two thumbs up. The Ultraglass rod is very well put together and fishes like a dream. We know that this rod will have many more outings ahead in the future.

Hey, Just wanted to pass along what I hope is nice for you to read. My name is John La Haye, I purchased a grasshopper green 5wt from Willow and Cane last month. I REALLY LIKE this little green rod. I have been fly casting here in Colorado as a native and casting salt water for stripers from Nantucket to Key West. The 5wt that I purchased was going to be the new "keep in the car " rod. Was going to be. I have been teaching a young friend how to fly fish. We have worked with several of my rods and I have seen him come along nicely. On Sunday the 30th of May I had him work with my 5 wt. We were having some thunderstorm activity around and the wind with it, but Jim was working 25-35 yards of line like he had been born to it. Better than with my big name Orvis and St. Croix rods. I just bought another 5wt graphite from you that I think might be the "stay in the car " rod, we'll see. Thanks for building a rod like the one(s) that I have. I almost feel guilty for the purchase price, La Haye |
